I so often hear new clients say, “I’m so embarrassed. I don’t want you to come till I get things organized first…”
Think about it. Isn’t this a common reaction to having a new person see your space?
You want to make a” good impression ” and seen as a person who is on top of all things in your life at all times. Are you equally embarrassed to go to a doctor, not wanting to see him/her until you’re perfectly healthy?
I say, (as lovingly as possible), “Get over yourself.”
Why not say to yourself, “Congratulations, I’m finally letting a professional take care of this problem,” and go to a movie, or play an extra set of tennis.
Part of the embarrassment often stems from the notion that you should be able to do it yourself, without help. Do you tune up your own car? Do you change your own oil? No doubt you could learn to do it, but wouldn’t your time be better spent doing what you do best or enjoy more? Of course!
Let the professionals do the work. In the long run, you’ll save time and money, as well as travel the quickest road to clutter recovery.
